The Grey Heron are a very familiar sight on Irish waters. Their grace and elegance as they rest on the edge of the water , coiled ready to strike out at unsuspecting prey is an incredible sight to witness. The heron feeds along the edge of coastal waters, estuaries to loughs and streams.
This scene is on Lough Conn in County Mayo. He is being mirrored perfectly on the perfectly calm water no doubt watch intently for his next catch.
“An Corr Ghlas” is gaelic for “Grey Heron”
